Abstract

This article supports the importance of family dynamics, as a scheme that defines the roles, limits, authority, discipline and support among members. For this reason, it is essential to question the extent to which this dynamic is modified in homes with only-child or several children, since it is in family development that both identities and life objectives are elaborated. Therefore, the objective of this study was to compare the family dynamics presented in homes with one or several children. A quantitative, cross-sectional and comparative methodological study was carried out with high school students from a metropolitan area. It was helpful the instrument for Measuring the Dynamics of the Mexican Nuclear Family developed by Vásquez-Garibay, et al., modified by Torres et al., which is made up of 8 areas, of which couple, identity and authority areas showed statistically significant differences in both types of family, nonetheless the values were higher on several children families, which results from a probable positive influence among children, closely linked to the model of education received. However, the rest of the indicators did not show differences.

Precisamente un enfoque que ha tenido cierto seguimiento académico distingue por lo menos tres tipos de crianza parental, visualizando dos factores, respuesta y demanda (o afectividad y control), dando con ello en la crianza autoritaria, la crianza permisiva y la crianza democrática, a partir del nivel de demanda y de respuesta. Por ejemplo, en la crianza autoritaria, se valora en extremo la obediencia (demanda), sin embargo, se limita el diálogo y se mantiene a los hijos en un nivel de subordinación (respuesta) (Baumrind, 1991, citada en Jorge y González, 2017).
